The health care reform debate has been raging for month’s now. It went from Health Care reform to Health Insurance reform. It went from coverage for all, to coverage for most, to pretty much what we already got. I’m optimistic that something will pass – i’m a little less optimistic that it will make much difference.
This is why organizations like Family Tree Clinic are so incredibly important. The Family Tree Clinic is a low cost health care clinic in St. Paul Minnesota. Their mission is to cultivate a healthy community through comprehensive sexual health care and education. Family Tree is a champion for sex education, and is a force for combating the kind of limited understanding that births abstinence only programming.
Family Tree was founded in 1971 by Macalaster students and faculty to “serve the thousands of teens and adults in the area neglected by the traditional health care system.” Sounds like we still need their good work for some years to come.
